JEFF CAIN — 2023
Jeff Cain may be best known for his work in the Philadelphia based innovative music duo The Ghostwriters. Authoring several atmospheric masterpiece recordings and live performances, these early realizations were unhindered, true expressions between collaborators. Forty years later Cain has returned to music.
He returned to live performance earlier this year performing with synthesist Nick Tannen at recent concerts at The Gatherings Concert Series in May and a live set on WXPN’s Star’s End in August.
Ghostwriters
The Ghostwriters were an electronic duo from Philadelphia who made music for over a decade but only released two albums and an EP before drifting apart in the late '80s. That's not to say they weren't active - the duo of Jeff Cain and Charles Cohen often performed alongside dancers or did soundtrack work that has not yet been archived or made available in a commercial way. In the 2010's, their 1986 album Remote Dreaming has acquired a rabid cult following that sent prices of the cassette skyrocketing.
Two Ghostwriters early releases are in production for re-issue on vinyl and digital this winter on Dark Entries Records: Objects in Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear (1981) and Remote Dreaming (1985).
